Archer, a teen with autism, was last seen at around 1 p.m. on Wolfs Lane in Pelham and was found safe later that evening. In a statement released on Friday, Jan. 17, the Pelham Police Department highlighted the extensive efforts that led to the positive outcome, describing a coordinated search involving neighboring police departments, including Pelham Manor, New Rochelle, MTA, NYPD, and Westchester County Police.
A K-9 search team and helicopter were also deployed as part of the operation, the department said.
"Our local Pelham community was visibly out scouring the town assisting in the search for Archer," the department wrote in a statement on Friday, also thanking "all the other individuals who either went out and searched or called in possible sightings."
Others thanked by the department included Mayor Chance Mullen, the Pelham Board of Trustees, and Pelham Schools Superintendent Cheryl Champ.
Pelham Police Chief Danny Green also reminded residents that the department's "Project Community" program allows families to register individuals with autism to ensure quicker response and coordination in similar situations.
